EXPERIMENTS INSPIRED BY THE ANIMATIONS OF LOTTE REINIGER

Many of Carla’s ongoing visual media projects combine music and shadows, inspired by the life work of animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger. Carla began the project in 2013 writing music for Lotte’s 1922 Aschenputtel, resulting in the short animation Cinderella: A Shadow Ballet (2015), which was then recorded at Warner Brothers Eastwood Scoring Stage.

Deeply inspired by the fusion of silhouettes and music, Carla next co-created a music-driven documentary Lotte that Silhouette Girl (2018) with director Elizabeth Beech. She is currently in production with Shadowmaker, a biographical feature film about Reiniger:
